Bat Template and Embellishment Set

With the night of thrills and chills just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to show off our bat template and embellishment set.

This set is perfect for any Halloween project you have in mind.

Whether you want to use the template by itself to make lots and lots of bats, or use the embellishment by itself to make an accent piece on a card, you can't go wrong.

Or maybe you want to use both pieces together. This way you have both the positive and negative images to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Happy birthday Card

Boy oh boy do I have a fun card in store for you today! Design Team member Pia Astrand has put together a wonderful card for us today. I absolutely love her color combo.

Did I mention big yet? Pia went really big with this card, 6x8 in to be exact.  She used our balloon template to make the balloon shapes, then use da bit of twine to make the string.

Of course, anything made by Pia must have her signature doodling :) And this project is no exception. The border on the card and the middle balloon, along with the sentiment, were all done by hand.

You are Lovely Card

I'm very anxious to show this gorgeous card created by Design Team member Bev Code. Such peaceful and serene colors. And our acrylic glass jar embellishment is the perfect addition. So I'll let Bev give you all the details of the cards below.

Hi.. back again with another new product from JnW Crafts. It's the Glass Jar.  On this card I started with the Paper House Paper and made sure there was room on the fun floral and butterfly paper to add the acrylic jar piece and still add some fun rub-on butterflies and flowers behind it. I added the matted and layered sentiment, inked the edges and it was done.

In this close, up you can see the rub-ons behind the acrylic but then on top of it and positioned on top of butterflies I added some gem stones. Adds depth and texture to my card.

Thanks for visiting today... be sure to visit again. I have some fabulous ideas to share with you soon.

Green Fairy

Welcome back! Today we're showing off a project made by Dana Tatar, and all I can say is WOW! I absolutely love the colors ad textures of this piece. I'll let Dana tell you in her own words her inspiration for this piece and how she created it.

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a fun mixed media piece that I created with the JnW Crafts Wood Bottle Template. I recently purchased a bottle of Absinthe and loved the Van Gogh artwork by Ron English on the box. I cut the box apart and used that image for the focal point of this piece.

I was thrilled to find that the JnW Crafts Wood Bottle Template fit over the bottle print on the Absinthe package perfectly! The bottle template made a great frame to highlight the Absinthe bottle image. I stained the wood with Vintage Photo Distress Stain and then stamped a text and floral print over that using Sepia Archival Ink. I finished the outer and inner edges of the template with a black paint pen and added some green brads for a pop of color.

I had a fantastic time creating the background for this piece. I primed the cardboard with gesso and then added a thick layer of Extra Heavy Gel Medium. I used a plastic comb to create the swirling circle design. Once the gel was dry, I sprayed the background with several colors of Dylusions Ink Spray and then added some stamping and pieces of torn newspaper.

To enjoy Absinthe in the traditional way one pours the liquor into a glass, places the Absinthe spoon across the top of the glass and positions a sugar cube on it. Next, one dissolves the sugar cube with cold water. This process turns the emerald green liquid opalescent, unleashing "The Green Fairy." I was inspired by this drink recipe and created this embellishment cluster.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be back to share more projects created with JnW Crafts products soon!

The entire page was made with distress inks, acrylic paints, a few stamps, and of course doodling by Pia.

I fell in love with this page as soon as I saw it.  Pia really shows off a fun way to use our templates!

Paint Me A Flower

Welcome back! Today we have a fun way to use our flower template with your favorite paints. JnW Crafts co-owner William Wray brings us this fun idea.

Start with gathering your supplies - your choice of paints, a JnW Crafts flower template, and your chosen background.

The flowers were simply traced and painted. The center of the stencil has a centering hole and the stencil is rotated around that hole indexing the individual petals to any degree making it possible for doing layers of petals along that center line.

The possibilities are numerous from flowers such as dogwoods to complex flowers like zinnias.

This flower would make a wonder addition to any art journal page, card, mixed media, or home decor project.

In Rembrance

The happenings of this one day will most likely live on in the memories of every one of us. Design Team Member Vicki Robertson shares her memories of that tragic morning.

I remember that fateful day, like it happened yesterday...Hubby was at work, oldest daughter was in class at a local college and the youngest daughter had barely started her senior year in high school.  And me?  I had just walked through the doors of JoAnn Fabric at 9 A.M. to hear that minutes before  a plane had hit the World Trade Center in Manhattan.  How tragic!  It never occurred to me at the time, that another and two others would soon follow or what it would all mean.

I could write word for word of my movements that day after 9:15 A.M., but choose not to dwell on my thoughts and feelings.  It was too close to home for me all the way around as we lived near Washington, D.C. and my family lived near Shanksville, PA.   And currently, we live an hour from New York City, and a lot of my neighbors were directly affected by the tragedy that occurred that day.

I will share that I couldn't reach my daughter's school fast enough that day, where I put my arms around her and held her close while we both shook with fear and shed a few tears.  Being home as a family that night, had greater meaning than ever before.

We have visited all three locations and memorials of that fateful day.  Standing in silent reverence in honor of those that lost their lives, left me so moved with emotion that I was frozen in place.

And then came the song...one of the most poignant songs every written. "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?" by Alan Jackson.

Nothing more need be said...

Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?
Were you in the yard with your wife and children
Or working on some stage in L.A.?
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Risin' against that blue sky?
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry?

Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know?
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below?
Did you burst out with pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do?
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters?

[Chorus:]
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell
You the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?
Were you teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate?
Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone?
Did you call up your mother and tell her you loved her?
Did you dust off that Bible at home?

Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Or speak to some stranger on the street?
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Or go out and buy you a gun?
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watchin'
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns?

Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Did you stand in line and give your own blood?
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love?

[Chorus x2]

And the greatest is love.
And the greatest is love.

Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?

Baptism Card

Are you ready for an amazing project from one of our newest Design Team members Bev Code? Well keep reading. I'm going to let her give you all the details of this beautiful card.

Hi .. so excited to share my first ever DT post at JnW Crafts. A totally new line of products .. what a great new journey and adventure and I get to ride the wave with them.... how cool is that? Well it was hard to know where to start but this cross caught my eye and I thought of an idea for a Baptism card.

I wanted the cross to be gold and the liquid pearls not only covered it but gave it a textured look which was perfect. The main base covered using a few drops of different colours of Alchohol Inks. I added some strips of gold paper, some dew drops, some rub-on accents and then added some more liquid pearl streaks to the base also.

With the main accent ready, I took a base card size piece of print paper with just a touch of florals and words that also had some turquoise blue in the paper. I weaved a ribbon through the paper on the side to match the colour and made the sentiment that I matted with print paper also.

Sure hope you love the look of this new product and how I used it. Join us at the main blog and view more creations that are possible with this new and exciting company's products.

Blast Off!!!

It's the start of a new week, and it's also time to show off another project! This card uses our wood rocket ship embellishment

The card was actually pretty quick to make too! I started with a kraft cardstock base, then added a layer of red and white cardstock on top. Now the fun part begins. I took another piece of white cardstock and created layers of clouds using blue ink and a homemade mask.

Then I used silver alcohol ink and colored the rocket ship. The "flames" are simply strips of cardstock that I wrapped around a pencil to make them curl. The blue dots or simply heavy duty foil that have been run through a Cuttlebug with an embossing folder then punched out.

Lastly, I just added my sentiment.  Easy peasy right?

Bow Tie Mini-Album

Welcome back! Today we have a fun mini-album to share, and we'll let Dana give you all the details.

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a mini book. This mini book is a pre-made embellishment by Heidi Swapp that contains lined pages. I altered the cover with pieces of vellum, chipboard stars and buttons and stickers.

I covered a JnW Crafts Metal Bow with patterned paper. I distressed the edges of the paper which allowed the metal underneath to peak through for a bit of shine.

Thanks for stopping by today! And remember, you can find this, along with many other items, in our store.
